Where grinding adds value
Grinding is often used when a part needs controlled flatness, parallelism, smooth contact faces or a refined final dimension after milling, turning or heat treatment.
Typical buyer notes
- Mark the functional surface clearly on the drawing.
- Specify whether the finish is cosmetic, sealing, sliding or bearing related.
- Confirm if the part will be hardened before final grinding.
Engineering review
The team checks stock allowance, part stiffness, clamping risk and whether grinding should be a final operation after other machining steps.
