Why tolerance notes matter
Tolerances affect machining route, inspection time, cost and delivery planning. Applying the same tight tolerance everywhere can make a part harder to quote and produce.
Practical checklist
- Mark critical-to-function dimensions clearly.
- Use general tolerances for non-critical dimensions when possible.
- Identify datum references, fit surfaces and inspection method if required.
How this helps RFQ review
A clear drawing lets the engineering team separate functional requirements from cosmetic or non-critical dimensions.
